Founded in 1966, Bottega Veneta embedded its core values in heritage, quality, tradition and craftsmanship. The house’s signature intrecciato woven materials symbolize the brand’s culture and devotion to this intricate art form. Bottega’s brand rejuvenation happened in 2001 after the new creative director, Tomas Maier, came into play. While not completely changing the house’s core values, Maier elegantly evolved Bottega’s brand direction.
Bottega’s research into finding the highest quality materials is a core brand attribute. They have acquired special technology to cut materials into extremely small pieces required for the weaving process. Artisans’ skills are mastered over an extremely long periods of time and are passed down from generation to generation. From the measurements to the weaving, their meticulous eye and passion for this art form is what makes Bottega Veneta stand out from other luxury brands.
The intrecciato process for one of Bottega’s most popular bags, The Cabat Tote, takes two artisans two full days to completely finish the tote. Each part of the bag from the handles to the base have different levels of thickness which the artisans must measure to accurately create consistent bags. The process then consists of an “eight-phase hand stitching, brushing and recoloring step.” Finally, the tote is taken to a final inspection before leaving Bottega’s doors.
Bottega’s versatility and tradition enable their craftsmanship to shine through in every bag they produce. The artisan’s hands are responsible for creating the perfect pocket size, strength in the seams, and most importantly consistency. Their undeniably classic and unmistakable style curates a world of luxury bags that will last a lifetime.
The new Spring/Summer 2018 line showcases and introduces new eye catching pieces. This season we see many new totes, materials, and even features personalized monogramming. With Maier’s 15th anniversary coinciding with the House’s 50th anniversary, Bottega will only continue to grow and evolve with a deep sense of tradition & history.
